GUIDELINES FOR HOLY WEEK 2020
UPDATED: APRIL 1, 2020
Based on Governor Whitmer’s “Stay Home, Stay Safe” Executive Order of March 23, 2020 and after consulting with the Archdiocese of Detroit, Archdiocese of Chicago, and health officials, the following are diocesan mandates regarding Holy Week.
All churches will remain closed throughout Holy Week and there will be no congregations of any manner.
PALM SUNDAY
Sunday, April 5
Each parish will have private closed-door Palm Sunday Masses (without the distribution of palms).
CHRISM MASS
The annual chrism Mass (blessing of oils) will be rescheduled to a later date.
HOLY THURSDAY
Thursday, April 9
Each parish will have a private closed-door Holy Thursday Mass (without the washing of the feet).
GOOD FRIDAY
Friday, April 10
Each parish will live stream private closed-door Good Friday prayers and meditations.
EASTER VIGIL / EASTER SUNDAY
Saturday, April 11 – Sunday, April 12
Each parish will live stream private closed-door Easter Vigil (Holy Saturday) and Easter Sunday Masses.
