Home School

Our Lady of Wisdom Homeschool Program

With the full support of Bishop Francis Kalabat and the Eparchy of St. Thomas and we are excited to roll out two homeschool programs to support families in our Chaldean community who wish to educate their children at home.  In both of the following programs the parent remains the primary educator and by Michigan law, the majority of education should be taking place in the home.

What is a Co-op Homeschool Program?

    • A co-operative (co-op) is a parent-led learning environment.

    • The environment helps to teach core classes as well as providing socialization.

    • Parents attend with their children and teach and learn alongside other homeschooling families.

    • Parents remain with their child during the homeschool co-op.

What is an Enrichment Homeschool Program?

    • Enrichment is a model where children split their time between a traditional school-setting and homeschool.

    • Parents are responsible for the additional education of their children on the days between the in-person learning days.

Training and Certification:

    • Co-op Requirements: All parents that are volunteering will be required to have a Protecting God’s Children Certificate along with CPR

    • Enrichment Requirements: All teachers will be certified and have a teaching degree or bachelor’s degree.

Curriculum:

    • Co-op will be accepting children entering Pre-K4 through 8th Grade.  We will also have a nursery on site for any younger siblings.
    • Enrichment program will be for grades Kindergarten through 8th Grade.
