This past Sunday, on our annual Diocesan “Day of Vocations,” the Chaldean community celebrated as Namir Narra received his stole and was ordained to the subdiaconate by Bishop Francis Kalabat, bringing him one step closer to ordination to the priesthood! The ceremony and Mass took place on December 5, 2021 at Mar Addai Chaldean Church in Oak Park, Michigan.
During the ceremony, Subdeacon Namir processed in carrying a stole in his hands. The stole symbolizes the authority given to him by Christ, through the Church, to assist at the altar and liturgical functions. The stole was then wrapped around his neck during the ordination. This beautiful act demonstrates the call of God in his life and a great joy of devotion to the Church.
On the same day, the diocese celebrated its annual diocesan “Day of Vocations,” established by Bishop Francis, which takes place annually on the second Sunday of Advent. In preparation for this day, the entire diocese prayed a 9 day novena, praying for men and woman to courageously answer God’s call to the priesthood and religious life.
Namir is currently a third year graduate seminarian at Sacred Heart Major Seminary and is scheduled to be ordained to the priesthood in 2023.
