A special Mass and blessing for all shamashe (sub-deacons), and servers of the diocese was held on Friday, January 29, in celebration of the Feast Day of St. Stephen the Martryr, the first Christian martyr and the patron saint of deacons.
Mass was celebrated at Mother of God Parish in Southfield, Michigan by Most Rev. Francis Y. Kalabat, bishop of the Chaldean diocese. A second Mass and blessing for English servers was held on Saturday, January 30.
Lord Jesus Christ, Server of all, send your Spirit upon our servers and their families, as they serve your Church. Amen.
