History Class
The Chaldean Church of the East is one of the most ancient Christian traditions in the world, with roots stretching back to the earliest centuries of Christianity in Mesopotamia. Despite its profound influence on theology, culture, and global Christian history, its story is often overlooked.
This course offers a comprehensive introduction to the history of the Chaldean Church of the East, tracing its development from apostolic times through the medieval period, the early modern era, and into the contemporary global diaspora. Participants will explore key historical moments, theological developments, liturgical traditions, and the cultural identity of the Chaldean people.
Through lectures and discussion, the course will highlight the Church’s role in education, missionary activity, language preservation, and its endurance amid persecution, displacement, and change. No prior background is required—this course is designed for anyone interested in religious history, Middle Eastern studies, or the heritage of the Chaldean community.
