Households of Prayer

Vocations are born in the home. Households of Prayer invites the families of our Diocese to pray, one week at a time, that God will raise up more men and women for the priesthood and religious life. Week by week, household by household, our whole community keeps a continuous year of prayer before the Lord of the harvest.

How it works. Choose an available week and commit to praying together as a family for those seven days — about ten to fifteen minutes each evening. There are two ways to take part:

• Pray from home (digital) — Three families each week receive the seven-day prayer booklet on their phone and pray it together at home. Nothing to pick up or return.
• Host the traveling set — One family each week welcomes the Traveling Chalice, paten, and the Religious Medallion into their home, with the printed booklet. The set is picked up from Mother of God and returned at week’s end for the next family.

What you’ll pray. Each day carries its own intention — for our shepherds, for those discerning, for our families, for a harvest of new laborers — with a prayer to pray aloud and a decade of the Rosary. The booklet also includes a Litany for Vocations and resources for anyone sensing God’s call.
