Home School

Our Lady of Wisdom Homeschool Program

With the full support of Bishop Francis Kalabat and the Eparchy of St. Thomas the Apostle, we have two homeschool programs to support families in our Chaldean community who wish to educate their children at home. In both of the following programs the parent remains the primary educator and by Michigan law, the majority of education should be taking place in the home.

What is a Co-op Homeschool Program?

  • A co-operative (co-op) is a parent-led learning environment.
  • The environment helps to teach core classes as well as providing socialization.
  • Parents attend with their children and teach and learn alongside other homeschooling families.
  • Parents remain with their child during the homeschool co-op.

What is an Enrichment Homeschool Program?

  • Enrichment is a model where children split their time between a traditional school-setting and homeschool.
  • Parents remain the main educators while teachers support parents in education as students grow in a loving supportive environment both at church and home.

Training and Certification:

  • Co-op Requirements: All parents that are volunteering will be required to have a Protecting God’s Children Certificate along with CPR
  • Enrichment Requirements: All teachers have a bachelor’s degree or higher in education.

Grades Accepted:

  • Enrichment program will be for grades Kindergarten through 8th Grade. (Children must be 5 years old by December 1)
